The boys of fall…

A couple of pics from the past couple of weeks… The deer have gotten significantly more visible in their seasonal search for lady-friends. This impressive whitetail let me approach close enough that had I been toting a bow as opposed to my Nikon, he wouldn’t have had much of a chance of fulfilling his dream with the doe he was tending so attentively. It was the doe that had finally had enough of me, and on her hasty retreat into the stubble field behind him, he quickly followed. Not for long however, as his dogged determination soon chased her towards another road and ultimately across it where I had moved to to catch them crossing.

These guys can absolutely disappear in a patch of cover not bigger than a single bed for 11 and a half months of the year, but once they start chasing does, they forget every single survival instinct that got them to that spot in the first place. Come to think of it, I know a couple of buddies like that!

Look Closely

This guy was doing his very best to pretend he was just another set of branches along the tracks… He wasn’t overly concerned I had spotted him, and he certainly wasn’t in a big hurry to leave his cone of perceived invisibility. Definitely not one of the bullies of the neighborhood, but he was cooperative, and was tucked into a nice setting that I enjoyed “working” with him in… A nice way to end an otherwise uneventful work day.
